Create a Task from an Email (logged)

Postby MGreenwood » Thu Jan 06, 2011 1:07 am

I love using 2Do and have been using it for some time. However one of the frustrating things I try to deal with is the creation of new tasks from emails. I typically get assignments or memos of things that need to be done via email from others. I would like a quick way to take the email message and have it create a task rather than needing to cut and paste the body of the email into the notes section. this works, but is slow and tedious. It also does not keep the detail information about the email itself, ie, who sent it, the date sent etc.. Any suggestions on how to do this would make this a GREAT feature!

Thank You
Mark

Not to pitch others' products, but the way I achieve this is to maintain a ToodleDo account. ToodleDo syncs almost flawlessly with 2Do, and has a feature where you can email a task to yourself. It also allows you to see your tasks via the Web. If emailing tasks is that important a feature, this is probably a good workaround. Note if you use Projects a lot, you'll need to spring for a ToodleDo pro account which costs $15 a year or so.

Hi,

I would also like to request this enhancement as the majority of my 2do list originates from email and due to data privacy/security issues can not use hosted services as noted here. The outlook syc feature was the deciding factor in purchasing this app and works very very well thank you but without the email to 2do task feature creating new tasks on my iPad is by far less efficient than my pc. Hope it not too hard!

I would like to add my vote for this feature too. It's the only thing that I've found missing for me. I'm off to try the ToodleDo suggestion for now but will keep watching here for any news.
Cheers

Been using the ToodleDO workaround for a while now and it works great. I will also post in favor of the direct email to 2Do - and up the ante a bit. Would be great if there was a way that attachments could go along. Right now i use the ToodleDo email and sync to create the task and an Evernote email to capture important attachments that are related to the task . . .messy and inefficient, but effective. A direct to 2Do email that could also capture the docs would be the bomb!!!

Thanks for a great app that i use everyday.

In my line of work (IT support) I often get requests via email, and while I can create tasks from email via Mac Mail, it is a feature that I sorely miss on my mobile devices. Please add my vote for this feature, I am holding thumbs that iOS 5 will make this easier!
