New Task Defaults (logged)

I'm proud to say that switching from Appigo Todo to your app was a good decision. One of the biggest reasons for my switching is your export and backup feature without the need for sync. The Toodledo free account does not support subtasks. This simplifies life for people who want a remote backup copy and yet do not intend to sync with an external service.

Almost every conceivable flow was handled. Using your app is truly a great experience. Some minor suggestions though:

1. When holding over a note for several seconds - you launch a menu. Can you change the "DONE" to "MOVE" instead? It's more useful. You don't really need a done button there anymore since you have it in the main screen.

2. There may be some major problem in handling new notes. I don't seem to get where they are supposed to go by default. Sometimes they go to one folder, sometimes to another. Can you have some setting where the default behavior of new notes can be customized?

3. I thought dynamic calendars should be like smart playlists in itunes. Looks like it works with tags but not with normal text search.

4. There's this folder called Toodledo that was created when I first downloaded my notes. Now that folder can't be deleted.

Please have time to check the above concerns. Your app is really great. Seriously. You deserve all the awards. More power.

+1

I think this would be really useful. I have a calendar called "Inbox" and I'd like new tasks to go in there by default, no matter what calendar I'm in when I create them and without having to specify the calendar. I think it would also be handy to be able to specify the default priority setting, given that 2Do's default (none) translates into -1 in Toodledo, which may hide the task depending on the filter setting in Toodledo. You could just set the default to "low" and this hidden task quirk would disappear.

You can hide this (or any other) folder/calendar/tab by going to Settings > Calendars > Manage Calendars and then setting the folder you want to hide to "off".

Sorry I didn't notice I kept on using the word "Note" when I really meant "Task" instead. :)

I'd like to emphasize that handling new tasks is major part of the usage flow (actually it's THE most often used function) and I hope the app developers would do something about this soon. It defeats the purpose of the "Quick Add" when you really don't know where those new Tasks may end up in. My old app Appigo Todo has it actually hehe. Anyway thanks Shelly and Latra for your replies.

Shelly, you may ignore my point 3. I think the Task I had been searching for was in a hidden calendar, that's why it wasn't appearing in the Smart Calendar. That led me to think that Keyword-based Smart Calendars are not working properly. I retried and it's fine.

I think the fact that I'm confused where the Tasks are going, means something is either wrong with me or there's room for improvement in that area. ;) There were cases when my new tasks were heading to the third custom tab. I'll try to find out the pattern and report it as a bug, once I document it.

Anyway one more thing - for the Quick Tasks - can the "return" key be converted into a COMMIT, rather than a new line? How many users do multi-line tasks? Most additional text, one would usually put inside the notes, not in the task itself. It would speed up adding new notes further since the return key's location is more accessible rather than the CREATE button which is in the middle of the screen. Just my 2 cents.

I truly think that the ability to set up default priorities is a must.
