GTD application

Postby raigrottpojken » Tue Dec 07, 2010 10:14 pm

Really nice app!!

A suggestion for improvement.

Add possibility to use the GTD (Getting things done) method by David Allan - meaning adding an Inbox where the user puts his or her to-do's.

Later the users can take the time to move the to-do's into different categories or calendars when they have the time.

There are already a couple of to do apps utilizing the GTD method. But it has to be easy and quick to add something into the inbox which none have managed yet.

I am thinking. (let's say I have enabled the GTD method in the settings first)
When I start the app I get a little input field where I can write the a short to do. Nothing else. No time set, calendars or anything. Just a small title or a sentence. Later, when I have time I can put the to do's into the right place with notifications etc.

Perhaps it is possible to run the app in the background and connect the note pop up by clicking two times on the home button.

The GTD method is all about getting the idea, or to do's into the inbox as quick and easy ad possible. And then put it into the calendar with meta data later when you have the time.

It is a very appreciated method and I think you would get a lot of buyers if you managed to do a good GTD application in 2Do.

I agree with the idea of allowing some more GTD tapering. Such as the inbox collection point for ideas etc to process after you have dumped them all into the application.
For me its essential that there is synching to the web and thus web access. Personally I use Toodledo. On Toodledo I use status to filter my tasks and projects. Next action, waiting for, on hold, started. Those type of things. Is it possible to bring this functionality into 2DO? This is also a key component of Gtd.
Thanks,

Hi Shelly,
Thank you that's a good idea to create an inbox. :)
I am new with this application. Perhaps then second part of my mail has an equally simple answer that I have trouble finding? That is to sort by the status filters used in Toodledo?
Thanks,

Hi again Shelly,
Apologies if I have somehow written rudely.
I thought I was in the part of the forum for suggestions? My suggestion is that since 2Do syncs with Toodledo, would the developers consider a sort by status filter, perhaps allowing the status entries from Toodledo to sync with 2Do?
Thank you for your time in replying to my queries.

The lack of this notion of Status, which a basement of the GTD method, is a key issue. 2Do is full of good ideas but without Status, I cannot use 2 Do for the time being.
I keep it on my iPad, checking what is coming in the new version.
You have implemented a notion of Action which might be used to set-up statuses but the 6 proposed values are fixed ones.
Unfortunatly, the only app that today correctly follows the GTD method is... Toodledo for iPad which offers all the features and a perfect sync with Toodledo cloud and web app (of course !). The bad point is that the design of Toodledo for iPad is not as good as 2Do or other competitors but between features and design, I prefer features.
But I keep an eye on 2Do and may be, on day, we will have a GTD compliant solution... which should enlarge the market for 2Do.
