Sync - but what, where is??

Postby DaveG » Thu Mar 08, 2012 5:19 pm

Hi
Got the phone linked and sync happening. At the bottom of the screen on the phone in the app is a white circle / red dot with "29" in it signifying I guess there are 29 tasks to come over to the phone from outlook.
That's great - but - I can't see them in any of the calendars, or anywhere else in the app.

What do i do to get these tasks out of the red dot and into a calendar please?

I have attached the screen grab to show...

Thanks
Dave

But does it no bring the existing outlook tasks to the phone as well or is this a one way push?

I think I just answered my own question - and the answer I'm really not pleased with in fact I'm livid.
I just re-opened outlook and all my manually entered tasks have gone - and replacing them are the example notes from the App.

Does it say anywhere that the user will lose all their previously set up tasks in the first sync?

I know I only paid a fiver for this app - but right now II'd pay £100 quid for a good one that doesn't create other problems.

At this time, seriously un-impressed....

Dave,

That (29) does not mean there are 29 tasks from Outlook to come over. It simply means there are (29) outstanding 'unsynced items'. From the shot I can see you deleted the built-in project 'To get you started', doing so will generate that many unsynced items (the number does not necessarily reflect the number of tasks in 2Do but also other things like tags, alarms etc which need to be synced). So for example if you had 30 tasks synced and deleted 1 task in 2Do, the counter would say something like (1) meaning there's '1 unsynced item' ready to be synced.

Back to your other question, Shelley was trying to explain that 2Do syncs with Outlook 'Tasks', meaning there's a special 'Tasks' section in Outlook (on the side-bar) that it syncs against. Any item you add to 2Do will appear there once sync successfully completes. You need to tap 'Sync' to sync changes over to Outlook once you've setup a connection (provided you've downloaded and installed the Sync Helper app on your PC). 2Do will not sync with events that are in your Outlook 'Calendar' (note: events are different from tasks/todos).

Try added a task to 2Do, tap 'Sync' and ensure it connects to your PC and performs syncs successfully. Then look under the 'Tasks' section in Outlook. Please see this for more details:

Dear gwsupport

Thank you for that, it is appreciated. What is not made clear though is whether or not this is a two way thing. I had tasks in my Outlook that I fully expected to appear in tasks on the phone.

Not only did that not happen - but all the tasks in my Outlook folder disappeared without trace - and I can't get them back - so the only tasks I now have in my Outlook are the ones as you mentioned mark completed on the phone.

If this app does NOT pull tasks from outlook to the phone then this should be made much clearer in the sales information.

I am on the road a great deal and my office puts appointments into my calendar on my pc in the office and they get pushed to me and onto my phone.
I want the same for tasks. I don't really add tasks to the phone very often and I am responding to where my office says my next call / next objective is.

If this app doesn't push tasks from Outlook to the phone then I have wasted everyone's time and my money.

Please can you confirm for me that this app does or does not put existing tasks in Outlook onto the phone during a sync and give me a brief outline as to why it destroyed all my pre-existing tasks in Outlook. At least if I do carry on using it I will know not to add tasks to my Outlook from my pc - which doesn't really appeal.
Thanks
