Syncing OL2010 w/ iCloud Calendar

Postby TilRoquette » Tue Nov 01, 2011 10:30 am

Now, that 2Do supports syncing 2Do's tasks with iCloud Calendar I have changed to this method so that my tasks are in sync between my iPhone and my iPad.

However, I did not find a way for the ToDo Helper syncing Outlook tasks with iCloud Calendar. Hence, I cannot keep my taks synced between the two "iDevices" and Outlook 2010. Is there a way to sync Outlook tasks with iCloud Calendar with the ToDo Helper Tool?

If not: there is a 3rd party tool to sync Outlook tasks (and calendar, contacts) with iCloud: iCal4OL. See here: http://ical.gutentag.ch/forum/viewtopic.php?id=389. I need to find out whether this tool syncs with same data on iCloud as 2Do does. If yes, I could use this tool, to keep my taks synced between the two "iDevices" and Outlook 2010.

Is 2Do syncing with Apple's reminder in iCloud, are you using some other standard database or are you using a proprietary database?
Thanks & Regards,

Til

I sync Outlook with iCloud using the iCloud control panel that you can download at Apple.com:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455

I also have 2do on my iPhone sync with iCloud. So all 3 (Outlook, iCloud, 2do) all have same data. Short story, yes, 2do syncs with Reminders via iCloud, nothing fancier than that.

Does that help?

Hi,

I have solved my problem like SaraM.

Hoever, there is a caveat, that needs an additional tool:

If you "sync" Outlook tasks via iCloud, this actually means that the iCloud control center adds an additional data file into the Outlook profile. This data files contains a task folder which directly syncs with the iCloud task database (actually: reminder data base). This works fine: tasks in Outlook's iCloud task folder, on my iPhone and on my iPad are all in sync (some Outlook specific features as some recurring patterns are not supported - but that's nothing now).

The caveat is, that (a) the creation of new taks in Outlook as well as (b) the task list displayed in Outlook's right hand column are based only on the tasks in the taks folder of Outlooks standard data file (same is true for contacts and calenders). Hence, I needed a tool that synchronizes Outlooks iCloud task folder with Outlooks standard data file's task folder. I am using OLMixedFolders for that. It's new, works quite well and the support is very responsive.
Thanks & Regards,

Til

Yikes. While that's definitely one solution, I'm not sure it's worth spending $30 on it.

Til, thanks so much for that link. Not as good a deal as 2do, of course, but still interesting.

Shelley: I haven't seen any problems with sync-ing my tasks to Outlook, but as Til says, it's not a perfect solution, since the tasks end up on a separate list than the principal Outlook task list.

Sara.
